THE DIREZIONE INVESTIGATIVA ANTIMAFIA CONFISCATES ASSETS WORTH 1.3 MIL EUROS  FROM TWO ENTREPRENEURS OPERATING IN THE BUILDING SECTOR

The Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, a Directorate of the Department of Public Security, carried out a confiscation order issued by the Appeal’s Court in Palermo against two entrepreneurs operating in the building sector in the area of Mazara del Vallo (TP).

This order stemmed from a proposal made by the DIA Director in 2016.

The affected persons, father and son,  were close to Trapani-based mafia-style groups and committed a series of crimes such as fictitious registration of immovable assets and companies, and usury. The investigation, carried out by the DIA, established that both entrepreneurs, serving the interests of cosa nostra, regularly lived thanks to the proceeds stemming from illegal activities.

The confiscation order targeted 37 immovable assets, 2 corporate assets, 7 vehicles, 3 financial  assets for an estimated overall value of  approx. 1.3 mil euros.

Today’s result is part of the institutional activities aimed at tackling illicitly gained assets, directly or indirectly linked to criminal sectors, so to safeguard the healthy sector of the national economy.
