THE DIA CONFISCATED ASSETS WORTH OVER   500,000.00 EUROS FROMAN ENTREPRENEUR FROM AGRIGENTO

The Direzione Investigativa Antimafia carried out the confiscation of assets of two individuals. They were entrepreneurs from the area of Agrigento working in the building and earthmoving sectors.The entrepreneurs were arrested within an antimafia operation of 2018, being suspected of mafia-type association. The investigations carried out and the information gathered proved that they were deeply involved in organized crime. They were both sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison for mafia-type association.The economic-financial investigations carried out by the DIA in Agrigento ascertained that the individuals had increased their wealth through their constant links with high-ranking Sicilian mafia-members. The activity was concluded first with the seizure and then with the confiscation order. Moreover, they both were put under special surveillance of public security with the obligation to stay in the area of residence.The present measure stemmed from the order issued by the Court in Palermo, I Section Preventive Measures, which partially redrafted the preceding decree and ordered the financial confiscation of assets for a total of over 500,000.00 euros:

• 5 real estate assets;
• 11 movable assets, including trucks, trailers and vehicles;
• capital shares of two companies;
• several current accounts, mutual funds and securities;
• 1 thoroughbred horse
