Today, the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, carried out in Volpiano and Chivasso an order of confiscation of assets issued by the Court in Turin – Section Preventive Measures – upon a proposal of the DIA and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Turin, involving two brothers aged 58 and 61, entrepreneurs with previous convictions. They had already been convicted by a first-instance court within a criminal proceeding stemming from Operation “PLATINUM DIA”.
Today’s confiscation was the outcome of a complex analysis of the material gathered by the DIA Field Office in Turin during the above-mentioned operation, which effectively documented and reconstructed that the huge property of both entrepreneurs, affiliates of the ‘Ndrangheta locale in Volpiano was linked to the reinvestment of the proceeds coming from the illicit activities of the organization.
The order of confiscation against the two brothers and their closest relatives as well as other fictitious persons, involved eight corporate assets, company shares of a catering undertaking, 14 real estate assets, 6 cars and 19 financial relations with an overall value of about 8 million euros.
Both brothers were also subject to the personal measure of police special surveillance with the obligation to stay in the area of residence and the prohibition to leave the area without the authorization of the judge for 5 years.
