ASSET SEIZURE CARRIED OUT BY THE DIA AGAINST AN ENTREPRENEUR OF VITA (TRAPANI)

The Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, carried out a preventive seizure order issued by the court in Trapani affecting the movable and immovable properties and the company shares of an entrepreneur active in the agricultural sector and affiliate of the mafia-type family of Vita (Trapani), who had been convicted by a final judgement under article 416-bis.

The entrepreneur was also involved in the criminal proceeding deriving from Operation. “Pionica”, which was focused on the mafia-type families operating in Salemi and Vita, in the area of Trapani, and in 2018 led to a series of personal preventive measures.

At the end of the whole proceeding, the entrepreneur, who was also involved in the measure taken in 2018, was convicted by a final judgment to twelve years in prison.

The seizure order, which was proposed jointly by the DIA Director and the Prosecutor’ Office in Palermo was carried out based on the results of the asset-related investigations carried out by the DIA Resident Office in Trapani, which proved that there was a disproportion between the assets linked to the entrepreneur and his income, with an overall value of about 1 million euros.
