The Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, a directorate of the Department of Public Security, carried out an order of confiscation issued by the court in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, on the request of the Public Prosecutor in Naples and the DIA Director, against an entrepreneur working in the building industry close to a camorra clan operating in the province of Caserta.
In January 2015, the entrepreneur had been subject to a pre-trial arrest order issued by the Giudice per le Indagini Preliminari (judge for preliminary investigations) at the court in Naples and carried out by the DIA. Following this pre-trial arrest, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for mafia-type association.
The entrepreneur was identified as the business arm of the mafia-type association for which he had reportedly managed tenders, particularly the tenders relating to the hospital “S. Anna e S. Sebastiano” in Caserta.
In May 2023, 14 financial assets, with an overall value of 6 million euros, were subject to final confiscation.
The order carried out today led to the confiscation of further financial relations owned by the affected party, with an estimated value of over 2 million euros.
Today’s result is part of the institutional activities aimed at attacking illicitly gained assets, which are directly and indirectly linked to mafia-type crime so to protect the health of the national economy.
