THE DIA SEIZED ASSETS WORTH 750 THOUSAND EUROS FROM AN ENTREPRENEUR PROVIDING SERVICES TO ELDERLY AND DISABLED PERSONS

The Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, a Directorate of the Department of Public Security, on mandate of the Prosecutor’s Office in Agrigento, headed by the Prosecutor, Mr. Salvatore Vella and the Assistant Prosecutor, Mrs Gloria Andreoli, carried out the preventive seizure, aimed to apply the confiscation for the equivalent value, of the assets of an entrepreneur from Agrigento, who provided services to elderly and disabled persons. The woman is suspected of misappropriation and self-laundering.

The economic and financial investigation carried out by the DIA officers by analysing accounting records, company registers, financial reports, and the huge amounts of documents, outlined the modus operandi used by the persons involved to reinvest the proceeds, which were illicitly gained by managing a non-profit organisation.

The order of seizure involved:

• 10 real estate assets;
• 2 bank current accounts.

In this regard, a press conference will be held today, at the Prosecutor’s Office in Agrigento, at 11.00 am.
