ENFORCEMENT OF 4 ORDERS OF PERSONAL PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR  THE MANUFACTURE  AND POSSESSION OF  WAR WEAPONS

In the night, the DIA officers in Salerno, carried out an order of personal preventive measures issued by the preliminary investigating magistrate (G.I.P) at the court in Nocera Inferiore, on a proposal from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, for the manufacture and possession of war weapons.

The DIA Resident Office in Salerno carried out a well-structured criminal investigation into individuals living in the area of Salerno and Naples. Within the investigation, a huge quantity of explosives was detected. They were partly contained in a device, manufactured by an individual of Scafati, in complicity with other members, through a well-defined division of the operational tasks.

The investigations carried out – including the use of interceptions and surveillance services – highlighted the involvement of five individuals with several criminal records. They had manufactured a war explosive device, weighing 3.4 kg  and were in possession of several explosives, which were to be used to manufacture other explosive devices (no. 17 pyrotechnics, a 140 cm long detonator with black powder, 3.600 kg of a mixture of gray pyrotechnics powder and 8.400 kg of powdered potassium perchlorate).

As a result, an order of pre-trial detention against two individuals and a house arrest order against further two individuals were issued. Moreover, a series of house searches were ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The above-.mentioned operation dealt an important blow to the bomb attacks lately carried out in the area of Nocera.
